Saturday is officially declared as Grocery Shopping Day. Spent most of the day buying foods from queen vic market, safeway and the asian supermarket at russell st.
We had a potluck that night at Unilodge, about 30 people. Honestly I don't know all of them. Never really go around talking to people also. Just spent my time stuck with gy and joey (by default, since she's stuck to him). Got quite bored actually. Even playing bridge felt very sian. Guess finding the correct bridge crowd is important too. Anw gy and I made baked mushrooms with bacon, tomatoes and cheese over it. Usually it should be made using portabello mushrooms, but we couldn't find any in the market, so we resorted to using swiss brown mushrooms instead. They are of the same diameter, but shallower, so lots of filling fell out during the process, which gy and I happily disposed of into our stomachs. Joey and hy did goreng pisang. Not bad for a first try, even though some of the bananas were not even ripe, while some of the ripe ones were very 'siap'. They bought green bananas from the market last week, and let it ripen on its own till this week. Luckily they bought it last week and not this, since bananas cost $3/kg this week and only $1.80/kg last week. They had some leftover batter, so they fried potato slices in it, and they were good too. Jansen fried beehoon, which smelt like zhi cha and tasted like canned food. It was not bad, just that the portion was a little too much. Lionel brought his mum's cooking: stir fried vege with dong fen. Home-cooked food! Not much effort on his part but we were saying it's probably best for us that we eat his mum's food instead of his own cooking... Some other people brought bah kut teh (way too pepperish), green bean soup (too diluted) and dumpling with red dates soup (nice...). Pics courtesy of su san.

The highlight of that day came when most of them left except for me, gy, joey, eliza, su san, fax and jansen. We stayed behind to play cards, and after one round of bridge, we decided to play Snap! Fun fun. Exciting game full of action. Learnt this from Easter camp. =P Asshole taidi was fun but it still can't beat Snap. And I think we're relying too much on ah ma for answers already. Haha. Time to have her overruled.
