It felt as if it was the first time I saw Rain in 5 months. Not the Korean star that every other girl ogles at, but those chains of water coming down from looming black shower head connected to greyish-blue buckets. It's not as if it wasn't raining in Melbourne or in the past week that I've been in Singapore, but it's just that today's rain made me Feel it, after so long.
For 5 months, Rain brought no joy. Melburnian rain is either too light or too cold to be enjoyed; rain in Singapore for the past week had surprisingly no effect on me at all. Not that rain in the past week had been any less than today's; in fact, being at home most of the time, I should have enjoyed it more.
The difference between the past week and today made realise why I used to, and now do, feel rain under my skin: it has been the backdrop of my most memorable emotions, and the most beautiful backdrop as that. It has been the confidante of my peace, my rages, my anguish. It calms, washes and cleanses my soul, quenches my thirst for life, and refreshes. It forms a tapestry of my deja vus, and only the rain in Singapore has that effect.
Why has it not been so in the past week then?
(That's for me to know and for you to find out.)
All I can say that ever since I touched down, I understood the meaning of 'bored out of my mind'. I stayed at home most of the week, painted my room, looked after my brother, and was a zombie. Rain had no effect on me, however beautiful.
Today, Rain pulled out my soul and scrubbed it clean. Finally, Life could continue.

This picture was taken at a CSS 2006 Trivarsity Retreat at The Church of St. Teresa, by a fellow retreat cum CSS member.
Besides its bluish hue, I love how the shot was taken: from the church looking out to the city. We are often attracted by
the excitement that this world has to offer, but we should often be reminded that as Catholics, it is important
to look back at our selves to reflect, and to turn to God as often as it possible. For we are, afterall, children of God.
I thought of replacing this picture when I lost my template, but I could not find another so full of meaning and beauty to me.
It reminds me of my identities and roles - my spirituality, my God, my home, the people who read this blog, and of my own beauty.

mood: resigned
song in her head: wants to give you up. she knows you're not the one. not the one who understands her. not the one who wants to support her and love her for all her imperfections.
